Hey everyone, just wondering what you guys have for intake manifolds or what my options are. Looking to get my whole intake/exhaust system finished before taking it to get it tuned, since I won't be adding much more after. Right now im running a JWT Popcharger Air Filter, and a Tomei Expreme TI catback exhaust. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

 

I have a Kinetix Velocity manifold, most will tell you to go with a spacer, I for one absolutely hate the stock manifold....too bulky and way to many bolts.

 

What is your plans?

You keeping it simple and want to stay cheap or do you wanna push it?

Stock with 5/16 spacers will net decent gains after a tune but if you looking to push it and loose some weight of the nose of the car kinetix FTW!

@bealljk is still against the Velocity, but I figure If I keep tagging him eventually he will come to the dark side. :-)

 

LMAO, besides the point that it's "not ideal on paper" what's not to love? It's pretty, easier to remove, stainless steel and much lighter than the stock.

Definitely not looking to go cheap, I'm not a fan of the stock manifold, like Dark said, its just bulky and ugly and that Velocity looks nice af! Eventually I think I'm gonna be going the FI route, but not positive on that yet, so I want a manifold that can handle that without cracking or getting damaged.

I had read a review that someone with the velocity didn't like it cause two of them cracked on him when he was pushing 20psi boost(if i remember that number correctly). Whats your experience been with it?

 

IIRC the old version was the one that cracked and the new one can take about 30psi? Don't quote me on that though, I'm NA and have zero issues other than some of the screw loosening up a tiny bit. I attribute that to the cork gasket, I'll eventually remove it and use the Motordyne Aramid gasket instead. Conway can give you more insight on the boosted side of things.

 

I love my kinetix! The one thing i will say is after the first heat cycle on the plenum remove it and then re-seat it.

I think I had a slight vacuum leak after the first heat cycle, but after my kinetix vs stock plenum 5/16 test I've never had another problem.

I love that it's easy to remove and it looks good, but the back 4 bolts are a pain to start and torque correctly.

Some sort of heat reflective tape wouldn't hurt either.

 

Has any one (or tuning firm) adapted a factory maxima manifold to this car instead of Kinetix?
