Default Intake Manifold Collector Cover Torque Spec - Need clarification

Just want a quick clarification to know if im reading this diagram correctly, as I've searched through the forums and found that bolts snapping is VERY common.

Is this saying that the Intake Manifold Collector Cover(7) gets torqued to 9-10 ft/lbs? I've seen people say that they used this spec and snapped bolts, should i maybe go 7-8?

**side note: not sure if the old gasket went bad, but i ended up cleaning a bunch of oil out of the upper and lower plenum as shown below. So I don't want it too loose that this happens again.**

Show the full pic, also oil has nothing to do with any gaskets and its entirely normal.

I'm assuming you meant the full picture of the diagram. Also, the whole purpose of a gasket is to keep the outside from getting in, and vice versa, to create an air/water/oil/etc. tight seal.

Also, to clarify further just in case, I'm looking for the torque specs on the 6 bolts that go into the collector piece, not the 6 that go through the upper and lower

  1. Yeah 9-10 ft-lbs
  2. The oil is not coming from that gasket, it comes from the PCV system and is normal for any modern car.

Have you had any trouble with the bolts snapping doing 9-10 ft/lbs? (If you've done work on your intake manifold. So, oil getting into the manifold is normal? Cause it's leaving the middle and getting into it as shown by the arrows. I've just never seen that before

I have had a bolt snap before but not them, it was one of the center 6 of the upper manifold.
oil comes from the middle and intake, reason why they sell catch cans. From a mechanical aspect that mist is "supposed" to lubricate the upper cylinders (kinda stupid because it effects combustion) if you want to prevent the oil from getting in you will have to get a catch can.
It will prevent most of it, but not all of it.
