Hey, well I use to own an audi s4, and many forum members who were knowlegable about the car recommended not to put 1 in my s4, how about the 350z, those of u who did the k&n how is it, is it dangerous for the car or recommended, increase in sound or performance? I dont know much about it for the Z so i figured some of u will. Thanks
I've had mine for 4 months now and no problems... As far as sound and performance go, I haven't heard anything different in my car but my butt dyno tells me there is ~2-3 hp gain....
Some will tell ya it ain't good for the Z... Something about oil leaking onto the MAF sensor.... If u run a search on "k&n filter" I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about.

the K&N drop ins are fine the only time you run into problems is when you try to re oil it yourself. but hell this wont happen for 50k for $45 you can just buy a new on for piece of mine.. you might get a way with telling people you have 290hp(maybe) instead of the awkard 287 that would justify the $45 for not having to hear people ask why 287?
you know nismo makes a S-tune one for like $80 and its warranted but 80K is a little high. it does have a S-tune sticker that might be good for $40

sometimes the factory can over-oil the filter...try to soak up some of the excess oil before you install it by placing it on a paper towel and letting it sit for a few minutes...even a slightly oiled filter can still f--- up your MAF...all it takes are small oil particles to coat a portion of the surfance of the MAF and your fuel ratio and mileage will be totally off...trust me on this; happened to many of my previous cars.

I've studied quite a few of our dyno charts from various events, users posts, etc. The A/F for the Z really dips in the 5k+ range and a better intake makes a small but definite difference in leaning it out.
I'd highly recommend the K&N drop-in as a good addition to the non-modder looking for a better replacement for the stock filter. What you may want to do first is use some canned air (used for dusting electronics) and spray it across the filter to blow off any excess oil that may come off onto the MAF.

so how would one know if there was a problem with the MAF after an intake/filter install and oil has transferred onto the sensor?
i just dropped mine in without any preparation since the K&N comes pre-oiled....you kidz are scarin me here!
