Default kinetix with stock exhuast any sound clips?

I could not find any sound clips using the search engine... so here it goes

Im poor right now after spending 460 bucks on tires I did not need "thank you F-ing aholes that knifed them" so Im trying to get the best gain for the buck sound and power wise

Im thinking about keeping the stock "catback" exhuast becuase it sounds like its not that bad flow wise and then just adding kinetix cats

Im hoping to gain a nice deeper/louder tone

I can get the Cats + popcharger for around $520 bucks VS buying a Nismo exhaust for $895 or Borla for $700ish

anyways if anyone could post some sound clips or video of a stock Z with just racing cats I would be very thankful =)

thanks

Default Sound

Well, I just installed Kinetix Cats on my Z this Tuesday and here is what I think...

KINETIX Cats + Stock Exhaust = Borla TD sound

I have heard the Borla and IMHO, the sound is just slightly louder than stock which the KINETIX Cats make the stock exhaust sound like.

How do you like your plenum/high flow cat combo? Is there a good bit of noticable power and where in the rpm's is it most noticable?
Thanks Mike

DADDY LIKES!!!!

The combination of Plenum and Cats is awesome. There is a DEFINITE increase in power noticed on the butt-dyno. The power seems to be all the way across the RPM range, not just after a particular speed. I really noticed the power increase when the plenum was installed, but the only difference with the cats that I have noticed so far is the deeper exhaust note. Sounds like I have a Borla system now. I have been told that it takes a while for the cats to "burn in" and really show a difference so hopefully that's true. Also, I have been told that the cats make the car feel "lighter" or "quicker on it's toes" not necessarily more powerful. I honestly must say that I haven't noticed that... yet, but I am still a believer in the "burn in" phase so time will tell.

With that said, I would recommend the combo to anyone. It's WELL worth the price.

Nice set-up man. I'm going that route too, keeping my stock exhaust. I really don't want anything louder than the "Borla system". Did you notice any torque gains down low? and how hard is the install on the cats? DIY?

Well, unfortunately I think that the Borla system is WAAAAAY too wimpy sounding. I'm not saying that there is anything bad about it. It's actually proven itself on the dyno as a definite HP gainer. It's just my opinion that if you are going to pay upwards of $700 for an exhaust system... it better be Heard!

As for my system, I feel a definite torque gain all the way across the RPM band. Not just midrange and up.

To put it bluntly... the cats are a ***** to install yourself unless you have air tools and a lift. If you have that, it most likely wouldn't be too bad, but if you are like me with a bunch of hand tools and a set of jackstands... you'll be in for a fun-filled little evening!
