Default Test Pipes w/Resonator : What/where?

Ok, I've made my decision...I'm going with test pipes, but I want the resonator for sure.

Can people list off the brands and price as well as where to get em?

I know Kinetix has em for ~ $350

Are there others??

Same here, only seen Kenetix with resonators, so far so good and no engine light.

This may be stupid, but these pipes have no cats and do have a resonator, right If so will the resonator will keep the car from having the really ricey fart noise? How is the sound of pipes like these?

Yes, it keeps the raspiness down 90%, there is still a bit as you hit 4K RPM but not bad otherwise, I would only get them with resonators after hearing one car with out them.

Those test pipes are in there...you have to look for em.

I SWORE I saw another company with them. It sounds like Kinetix is way behind on orders....so I'll take some time and search around.

I'm suprised they don't make more with resonators....it's not like a huge deal or anything.

I can TOTALLY understand why people are put off by the "raspy" sound but it's undeniably the sound of uncorked performance (the louder, the better). It's funny how nobody ever caps on the raspiness of Formula One race cars or race cars, in general. Most people find the sound to be dissonant and annoying maybe even juvenile but if you were to spend some time in pit lane at the Long Beach Grand Prix, some of you might be humming a different tune...

Not everyone has been initiated but that's cool-I used to feel the same way... Some folks get pumped for the angst of The Clash or The Damned while others prefer the soothing sounds of Amy Grant or Yanni. It's all good!!

I just had the labree motorsport test pipes w/ resonators installed on my Z. I paid $365 for these pipes and I am absolutely happy with how they sound. There is no raspiness at all B/c of the resonators. They took about 3.5 hours to install. Here is a link to what these test pipes look like. Labree motorsports dynoed a Z with exhaust and headers...they got a 14whp gain with just the testpipes. I dont feel THAT much power, but there is a noticeable difference.

browse through the gallery and you will be able to see the test pipes....they look just like test pipes but one side of the pipes is fatter...these are where the resonators are.

Would the Kinetix Test Pipes w/Resonators take away any low end torque? Does it make it feel more sluggish in the low end revs? How would Kinetix High-flow Cats differ in power to the Test Pipes w/Resonators?

I know what you're feeling, time4aspliff, I just ordered the Helix Test Pipes and am looking to pair it with a custom exhaust... my dad used to mud race back in the early 90's with basically a stripped down copy of the engines they use in Top Fuel dragsters (Blown Chevy 563 Nickel-block running on Alcohol!) - It had somewhere around 1400 HP and would go from 0-110 in 400 ft. in 2.5 ft. of mud in under 4 seconds! Now that b1tch was loud!

If I'm not going to turn heads from the sidewalk when I floor it, I don't want it on my car...

3.5 hours seems long even using just jack stands. I did mine in about 2 hours on jack stands If I have to remove them I could probably do it in much less time since I am familiar with the process now.

are these resonated test pipes bigger pipes than that of the stock cats? i am thinking of gutting the cats to get a resonated test pipe effect out of the stock ones. What do you guys think?

I think that's a good idea...then post how the heck you did it.

Only seems to be one resonated test pipe out there....I figure most of these high flow cats aren't so great (keep hearing about them clogging up and failing), so might as well just get a resonated test pipe....but if you can figure out how to make one, please tell me!
