Default my kinetix plenum review

Installation was a little tough, not all of the holes lined up, had an especially difficult time with the front three bolt holes, had to really fight with them to get them in and the gasket was partially covering up the holes , once we got it installed though the gains are obvious, you can really feel it through the entire rev range and big time over 5k, over-all it is a worthwhile modification and if you can get passed the install then you will enjoy it, and on top of it all it sounds really fierce, gargles and rumbles almost like a V8

Default Has to be a V3

Well... it would have to be a V3. I talked to Jaimeson and he said that the V4's aren't even going to start shipping for 10 days (I'm on the list due to a cracked V2).

Yep I'm on the list now too...
Cracked a V2, V3 both at the center support struts...
So hopefully the new design will solve the flaw!
I can't wait!
The plenum is an excellent mod, sounds great, performs great- just gotta finish getting the bug(s) out!
Thanks Kinetix!

Just noticed yesterday that my V3 cracked after a long drive in the foothills. I guess I will wait for a V4 now. Don't worry about the product, Kinetix is the best in regards to customer service and I have faith in them.

Scubasteve,

I notice in your signature that you have a Zex wet kit? What size shot are you spraying? I wonder if that affected the plenum and caused it to crack?

S**T, Kinetix is still having issues Damn! I was going to order soon but not if this is still going on. Maybe they should move to a new material don't you think?

Vash, are you far from Ft Laud? Would love to check it out sometime.

after three versions, the product is still breaking. Most other products would been black-balled into the next galaxy by now. I'm sorry....maybe they are a great bunch of guys, but they need to make a product that actually doesn't break before I put down my $$$$. A failure here and there is common with everything, but there are no moving parts here. It is a basic MATERIAL DESIGN FLAW. Come on Kinetix.....I know you can do better than this abysmal showing!!!! Crawford must be laughing all the way to the bank.

All of us who were involved in the GB are going to have our plenums begin shipping either tomorrow or next Monday. This is per Robert @ Kinetix!

I was going to get a Kinetix...that was when they were on V2 that was supposed to solve everything. I went with Crawford...I'm glad.

I'm now about to buy their resonated test pipes...but I'm scared. I don't have the time to take the things on and off the car 5 times if there's something wrong.

The pipes are GREAT. I have them on and love them. They were made very very well and I have had no issues. The installer Mike from the So Fla Z club said he liked them as well and the design was sound.

However, their plenum is a piece of s**t IMHO. I mean really....come with something legit or take it off the shelf until you do!!!!

Damn...im waiting for plenum v456. As all versions have had flaws and have cracked, it is great to know that Kinetix is still trusted as a reliable and trusting company. Hopefully v4 will be awesome!

people sure do love to bash!

If you can wait, you should or go buy crawford's.

If you want more power (and the factory stut) and can make some tiny modifications (open up a hole or two to line up the bolt better) on the install give it a try.

If, by chance, it cracks, they will definitely take very good care of you and send you a new one.

me, I'm still going strong on the version 1 plenum and I have not had one single problem. and if you see in my sig, I was the first guy to install one. (and no, I do not work for them) If/when it does develop a crack I will contact them for a replacement and I am sure they will come through like always.

Its great to know I you can count on them....

This plenum's advantage is the cool air charge due to the reduced heat soak. But as described below, it cannot be a pure thermoset resin (too brittle), it needs to be reinforced with fiber of some kind to prevent stress from propogating. A plenum goes through major thermal and transient pressure/vacuum transitions. A thermoformed piece will never survive. Kinetix should go back to Engineering school.

Okay if it cracks, I would like them to pay for my new one, pay for me to get it installed since I don't want to take the time to do it again, and pay for any time lost from work so that I can take it to get installed. Until they are willing to do that, they should take the product off the market until they get a product that doesn't fail so much of the time. Yes, they are a good company with good customer support, but this is an unreliable product in its current state of design. No excuses. Look at it this way, if a product never breaks, who cares what the customer support is like. I would rather have a company that I can get a product from, and never have to use their customer support because their product is so good to begin with.

RIGHT ON AND WELL SAID! They are a bunch of imcompetent engineers trying to make a quick buck on the Z community b/c they know we are looking for more horsepower. It is a shitty way to do business and does not make it any better just b/c they replace the damn part!!! After so many of these breaks it is LOUD AND CLEAR there are design and mainly material flaws. yes they will replace he broken part but who cares if it is going to do it again. WHo knows what other damage is being done to the engine, it may be minor but the seal and that cracking can mess something up. Plus are they paying for all the damn time and labor and inconvenience we are going through b/c their design sucks. NO NO AND NO. If you guys bought a product from anyone else and it broke and broke again plus you kept reading from hunders of people it is breaking on them would you buy it again or buy it for the first time!!!! HEll no. Do your due dilligence and design a quality part will ya and test it over and over again! Granted breaks or things can happen for sure but they are on the 5th try now. It is obvious something is wrong. I never hear these complaints with the Crawford plenum. Yeah you lose the strut bar and cover, blah blah, but HIS part does what it does and doesn't crack, or leak and his designs are no doubt getting better every time. Not worse. I will say the Kinetix Resonator Pipes are GREAT. But now all this **** has me worried, they are great for now but man what can I expect down the road.

AND what the hell are you guys talking about with customer serivce and how great it is!?!?!?!??! Are you serious!?!?!??! Have you ever tried to call Kinetix on the phone and have someone ACTUALLY pick up the phone. NEVER EVER, and I have called many many times. I just get this CHEESY messge saying "Priceline, where it is all about the price", YEAH no S**T. The product shows. I even emailed the main guy and he did email me back a few times but only to say he was sorry and would call me personally, he said it 3 times and never called.

I called Doug at Crawford one time to ask him a question and he talked to me for an HOUR! And I never bought one damn thing! I have done that with him a few times, he ALWAYS answers and spends anytime you need with him. I dont own ONE DAMN Crawford part at all so i am not pushing his product BUT THAT my friends is customer service.

For all those that keep saying that the material they used is to blame - you are all probably correct - that's why V4 is moving to a new material that is supposed 40% stronger... I have faith that Kinetix will keep evolving their product until it is the superior and dominant product in the market - and I'll have that product regardless of how many plenums I have to send back... but it would be nice if V4 were that "superior" product **crosses fingers**
