Question Borla + test pipes= rasp

I need to upgrade to either test pipes or high flow cats, and I would prefer to get the test pipes because of the price difference.

With you guys running the Borla exhausts, does this system help cut down on the raspiness at all? Does it sound OK with test pipes?

Thanks in advance

ive been contemplating the exact same question and need an answer. the question is biased though because everyone has differnt opinons about how bad rasp really is. some outside souund clips would be nice though...possibly a before and after test pipes

I have the borla true dual and I put in kinetix test pipes. Yes, there was really bad rasp at 2500rpm to 3500rpm.
The power was nice, but the sound had to go. I'm now in the process of modding my exhaust by adding an extra set of resinators, and if that doesn't do it, I will be modding the test pipes by adding hi flo cats to them.

From what I have been experiencing with my setup, the rasp is from 2500-redline. When I had test pipes with the stock exhaust I got the usual 2500-3500 rasp, probably because the stock resonators worked better at higher rpm's (only a guess). When I first got my injen exhaust, I thought my worries were over because I heard no rasp at all and it sounded awesome. 2000 miles later now that my injen resonators are all blown out, I have bad rasp from about 2500 and it starts to sound normal at about 5k-5500 rpm's. I am now thinking of getting either hi flow cats (not RT due to obvious reasons) or test pipes with resonators. Although I don't know which company's pipes have resonators on them; maybe someone can let me know my options. I definitely don't recommend test pipes unless you have a custom exhaust setup with better resonators or resonators on the test pipes.

Hope that helps.

Stephen

No, LaBree Motor Sports have testpipes with resonators, infact, LBMS was first to have applied resonators to testpipes for the 350Z.

Having the Borla exhaust will not reduce the raspiness of testpipes. Only resonators will improve that problem. If you are going to go testpipes and want to avoid the raspy sound, you must get testpipes with resonators, whether it's from Kinetix, LBMS or another vendor.

If you don't mind, I'm *PUI* at the moment. Please do a search using my name and LBMS as the keyword. There are detailed reviews as well as contact information, pricing and every other detail available. If you have problems, PM me and I'll post whatever you need tomorrow.

As for your later questions, there is virtually no rasp. And, I really can't compare to kinetix. However, Zxsaint has driven my car and has the kinetix, he would give you a reasonable comparison. I have no experience with Helix so I can not fairly comment about those testpipes.

And, yes I very much like them. LBMS testpipes with resonators are not cheap. In fact, I think they're expensive. However, from what I've experienced, they are excellent in quality, sound great and are an excellent value. I would buy them again and believe that they are worth the expense.

This makes me think if the resonators in the test pipes will blow out eventually just as my injen resonators did? Maybe I should just go to high flow cats for that price.
