Just installed the V4 this weekend. I could very well be wrong, but the motor seems to be getting much hotter since installing the plenum? 2 reasons, when opening up the hood after driving, it seems much hotter inside. 2nd, the electric fan appears to be coming on sooner than before. The fan now comes on after 10 minutes of normal driving.
How far off am i in assuming this? If it is true, could there be a different thormostat that i could install to off set this?

Its your headers the heat shields are removed so the heat rises now. Its fine dont worry about it mine is the same way its not the plenum.

The install was very easy, just be very careful, not to overtighten the bolts and don't drop any.
I've had headers on for quite some time now, and the fan comin on was never an issue until the plenum was installed.
Can i instal a different thormostate??

You dont have heat shields with headers on, with the stock manifolds you do. I wasnt talking about the stock setup i was about the after market headers being on his car causing it.
Thanks Glen

Hmm ... interesting ... I've never even thought of that.
In that case, I would suggest bypassing that block completely by using a typical coupler that could be purchased at Home Depo. or other hardware plumbing stores. It is possible to disconnect the two hoses connected to the bypass block w.o. taking the plenum off. You'll need to disonnect the intake tube and a bit of elbow grease ought to do it. Run that setup and see if your cooling issue is resolved.
Good Luck.

It could also be the fact thay you added a PERFORMANCE MOD. How do we get more performance, added air and fuel mix. In your case it may just be more added air. We all know that more air creates a leaner combustion which creates more heat than a richer combustion. I'd chalk it up to your engine makes more power thus needing more cooling. You should lift the hood on a F/I car someday and you'll be thinking how does the plastic and rubber keep from melting in there.

I dont think the plenum is adding THAT much air to make a noticable difference. specially since no one else noticed.
furthermore, some pics have been posted of the internal casting on the plenum which would not make me doubt for a second that the coolant block might not have formed quite right.

When I replaced my V3 for a V4, I noticed that I had a lot of coolant residue around the coolant block fittings. I was also thinking about bypassing the stupid thing, but thought that it was made for a reason. Let us all know how the bypass thing goes. Anyone else here done this before?
