Header Install Problem

Default Header Install Problem

Its probably more due to ignorance than anything. I'm trying to install my DC Sports headers and I can't figure out how to remove the nut on the passanger side, bottom, at the front. The instructions don't say to remove anything else from the area (like the waterpump or coolant pipe) so I haven't done that yet. I've tried a box end ratcheting wrench, a mid length socket, a deep well socket and a ton of extension/universal combos. Can someone tell me how they removed/replaced that nut? What tool(s) you used? From above or below? and what else did you remove to do it?

if you have AIM msg me i will send you a guide on installing headers on the 350z and it will tell you what you have to remove...i beleiv eyou do have to remove the coolant hoses etc. send me a IM though @ Sins4u33 or e-mail me at

I removed the coolant pipe that runs along side the engine. Made it alot easier.

You need a 14mm deepwell on top of a swivel socket on topof a two foot extension from the bottom of the car. Loosen the power steering pump and thats it.

Alright, I'll start trying all of your suggestions this afternoon. I'm hoping to be able to get the bolt off without touching the pump though.

I was able to use a 14mm wobbler socet and some extensions to get all the bolts off, and I did not have to remove any lines or the pump. I hope you are on a lift.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I removed the hard coolant pipe and I was able to get to the nut with a deep well socket connected to a universal to a 3/8 drive ratchet.

One last question though, is there any trick to getting the studs to thread back into the block? every time I try, I cross thread the stud. Any words of advice?

Just make sure you are screwing them in at the right angle and whatever you do, dont mess up the threads in the head or you will have a shiitload more work on your hands. I also had a few of the studs come out on me and you should either use anti-sieze on the threads so you wont gall up the threads when taking the studs in and out, or just lok-tite the studs. I am not sure if there is a lok-tite that holds up to that kind of heat though.
