If a apexi filter will fit buy one of those. Thats what i have on my Z. Its a dry filter so it requires no water or oil to clean it. Many companys sell cleaner to clean the filter,or you can just order a new one from injen.

Thanks Glen

Pretty sure you can just clean it out by rinsing it off, I would think you just want to get all the particles out. I need to do a little cleaning on mine soon as well. There was a post about this a while ago but i'm not sure how far back

you can use a K&N filter recharge kit to do the filter. or if you want to replace it the Injen filter is #X-1015-BR, cost $48.00 on Injen website

I did this a while ago. Enjoy the pics.

Directions:
After getting the car on ramps. I removed the bottom apron to get at the air filter

Here is a pic of the air filter oil and cleaner. I also used a paint brush to remove some of the dirt from the filter.

May I submit to the court evidence number 1. Really dirty filter. Gives you some indication of what can get sucked in your engine if you dont use one.

Let the cleaning begin. I used the air filter cleaner here and sprayed it directly onto the filter. After that I let it sit for 10 minutes. Very nasty.

After letting it sit for about 10 minutes. I took a water hose and sprayed water from the inside of the filter out.
Dont spray from the outside of the filter in. Here is the old filter oil and the rest of the dirt

Once that is done. The filter should turn white from the cleaning process. Old filter oil and dirt removed. Let it sit for 20 minutes per instructions.

You are awsome! I laughed my *** off while looking at your pics.
I just bought the K&N cleaner kit and was wondering.... do I even want to see what my filter looks like after abusing it for a year.
But seriously; I think your answer will be the last one for this post. Nice job!

doing a JWT popcharger filter is the same process. except i found that 409 cleans the filter better and JWT uses that cool blue oil

DO NOT SPRAY the filter...especially not with a garden hose. the pressure could possibly damage your filter.

simply stick in under running water and you should be set.
