Default Oil guage reading 120psi+++

My stock oil guage has been reading 120psi++++ for the past few weeks, it seems to be pinned to the right side of the guage and will NEVER even move. Why would my oil pressure be this high? Im thinking the pin in there is just stuck or needs to be tapped maybe. Can someone offer some insight here. I just got a new oil change and it stayed the same. Thanks.

Interesting, both you and I have the Vortech kit and my car has had the same problem for quite a while now. At first it went to 120 until the car warmed up then it dropped some. It never dropped to the normal pressures that I saw before it started acting up. Now it just goes to 120 and stays there. My first suspicion was it was a long term effect of the Vortech oil feed coming from the same line that the pressure sender uses.

I am going to make a wild guess that since the T for the feed to the SC is before the oil pressure sender, and that area is now seeing flow, the short line before the sender is now somehow acting like an appendix and collecting small particles in the oil until it clogs the sender.

It could also be that the sender is bad.

I am starting to think that my theory *may* be on track.

Bump for other Vortech owners...

Uh...sounds like a Vortec problem. Call 'em. Tell 'em there is a trend establishing on this site and they better fix it before their name is tarnished.

Took the car back to the dealer, replacing the oil pressure sender under warranty.
