Rough Idle
rough idle indeed can be normal, BUT, it doesn't meen it cannot be fixed. It can either be dirty fuel injectors (which is what fixed my idling problem) or it can be spark igniters causing slight misfiring. Other factors might play into why your engine or any engine for that matter idles so rough that the rpm gauge jumps, but for those who feel the need to do something about it, i would go with the fuel injectors first, dirty fuel is common and can cause problems to your engine as far as i am concerned. i hope i have helped out.
Mine did that the day I pulled out of dealership.
Was told its normal and drive it in some.
Stll there.
New dealer agrees its a problem despite not thorwing codes.
Is trying to fix.
They put in another MAF I am gonna see if it helped.

At least your dept put in another computer control unit. The idle only needs to be raised 150-200 RPM to smooth it out. Hard to believe they designed a computer control unit that cannot be adjusted for idle.
I understand the 350z may use the OBD II diagnostics as domestic cars ,but not sure about that.

They blamed my rough idle on my popcharger even though I had the rough idle before I installed it.

man, finally a thread I can relate to. I have 4500 miles on my z and I have a rough idle as well. As a matter of fact, I can hear noise around the area where my clutch pedal is. My idle is always under 500 unless the A/C is on. Do your cars sometimes feel sluggish one day and run smooth on others?
