Help...Breakin period(Boxster S owner)
Hi guys. My niece bought a brand new 05 350Z 300hp automatic and didn't make sure the car manual was in the car. I just don't understand it, anyway...She went away and left the car for me to drive . So I've been taking it easy(varing rpms) , not trying to go hard, cause I know there's a break-in period. Can you give me some insight on the break-in period? If it wasn't for me she would have no idea (I put part of the blame on the dealer). Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

1200 mile break in period. Don't go over 4000 rpms. Vary rpms while driving like you've been doing and avoid long highway miles at the same rpms. I'm breaking mine in too right now. Its Memorial Day weekend, the board is usually pretty slow. We are all out enjoying our cars!! Why aren't you in your boxster right now.
There is a thread on this topic already too. It has a pretty good article on engine break in. There is a technique suggested in there on the optimal way to break in any motor. Good read.

Till you can visit the dealer:
http://www.courtesyparts.com/nissan-...issan-350Z.pdf
Section 5-17, or page 176.
BTW, did you check the glove box behind the passenger seat?

What a coincidence, I was just out driving my step-mother's Boxster-S. I am just too big and oafish to drive that car comfortably (I felt the same way about the S2000). I'm 6' with size 12 shoes, my biggest complaint is that the clutch pedal is way too close to the brake. My feet feel wedged together in a V shape down by the pedals.
I am also breaking in the new Z... it's such a sad feeling when the rev-indicator light I set at 4000 rpm's starts blinking
Got to take care of my baby though, only 900 miles to go >.<
