oil press. too high?
I just started noticing I am having the same problem...Using Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30....I never had a problem when I was driving daily but now i only drive about once a week....and now its acting up...im worried because I'm about to make a 600 mile trip and dont want high oil Psi all the way home.
mines been doin this as well, sits at around 40 at idle, jumps to 65-75 psi at around 4500-5000, and then around redline is around or above 95 psi. When its cold it will damn near peg the gauge out took it to dealer they said it was running normal.
Anyone got this problem pegged down yet? I changed my oil a few weeks ago and noticed that my cold idle pressure went from 60psi before the change to 90+ after the change. At 2000 rpm cold im at about 110 and any higher it just pegs the guage. Once warm I have about 30 psi idle, but im still at about 115 psi WOT when hot. I used a mobil 1 filter and I had Valvoline semi-synthetic 10-40 in there, went to valvoline semi-synthetic 10-30 with no change, finally switched it out to mobil 1 5W-30 w/ a nissan filter, still no change. So i've ruled out oil and filter as causing it, how did the pressure sensor replacement go and how much are the sensors?

yeah, i think im gonna have to tap in an aftermarket gauge and see if its reading correctly. If it is, i have a real strong feeling im gonna just redline the motor when cold and blow all the oil seals, then nissan will be giving a new motor.
its not the gauge....its the oil sending unit that screws in the bottom of the motor. i have had mine changed twice, one time being changed today. i had the same problem as you guys, and it fixed the problem both times.
My turn to bring this thread back...
I just switched over to Mobil 1 synthetic, 10w-30. I've noticed my oil pressure is way up there now too. I saw where somebody else asked if the OP has switched to Mobil 1...between that and perhaps a fresh oil change is this pretty common? Or do I need to start looking at the sending unit or the gauge itself?

don't worry about it... see link in my sig. sorry for my paranoia earlier in the thread, that was several months ago. I switched to 5W-30 by the way, and the oil pressure at WOT seems to have dropped a little bit.
I had the same problem.
Started the car and the gauge was pegged out, dropped to about 90 at idle when warmed up.
The dealer placed the oil sending unit (like the above post) whatever the heck that is and it now runs fine.

Since I am turbo'd and have aftermarket oil pan..etc. I am a little scared about going to a dealership. Oh and I now have a SES light that on all the time. What should I do? How much are those sensors?

i wonder if it can be repaired.

You don't need to drain any oil or remove the oil filter. Its located right above the filter. Unplug and remove the old one with a 24mm wrench. Watch out though....there will be some oil coming out when the old unit is removed, not much but just enough to mess up your garage floor. On the scale of 0 to 10, and 10 being most difficult. This job is definitely a ONE.
