i know there is no way i could check it (supposedly a gauge or dip stick is bolted down or something). so i was wondering how much and how often to have an auto tranny fluid change?
Nissan says you never have to change it per the manual and if you do it is a service item that should be done by a dealer. One can do it and it requires a lot (10qts) of Nissan tranny fluid at about $10 per qt and the procedure is a lot more complicated than changing engine oil. Is there a specific reason you are looking into changing the fluid?

no...i was wondering since i bought the car used. where can i find this article that the fluid is not required to be changed? i have never heard of an auto tranny fluid that never needs flushing or changing...i just don't want to wear and damage the tranny....

Infiniti recomends 30k changes in fluid. I had my g35 sedan done with a complete flush and fill for about 175$ as this is much cheaper than a rebuild at 100k for $2,000. Talk to a trusted mechanic that does not do tranny rebuilds-- and then one that does. This will tell the whole story.
