Does the base and enthusiast model has the shift light? or it is on Preformance/Touring/Track model only? Thank you.

Victor, I'm not saying you're wrong but can an A/T owner confirm this. Since you can "shift" the A/T why shouldn't there be a shift light.

Because on the AT there is a LCD that indicates gear position where the shift light is on the MT.

Thank you for the enlightenment. I admit I haven't paid too much attention to the A/T functions.

also because as much as they say its a manual mode, it will shift for you and not let you hit the rev limiter. it is above all a automatic transmission, they simply now let you suggest what to do. thats why there is a clutchless manual and a automatic with manual mode. there are differences. but even in the end, both of them have no hard link between you and the gear box, its all through a computer.

that can be good or bad.

I would never drive an automatic, and an automatic with a manual mode is still an automatice. Now a clutchless manual might be interesting. I know this is off topic, but I was just wondering whether anyone here has driven a clutchless manual and how it compares to a regular manual transmission.

Actually, I don't think it will shift for you. I remember reading about AT owners banging into the limiter after being in manual mode and thinking that it would shift at redline, just like it does in regular D mode.

I may be wrong, but I'm thinking the rev limiter is still on the AT for a reason. There wouldn't be one necessary if the tranny shifted for you, even in manual mode. Wouldn't it then not exactly be a "manual mode"? Sorry, just a counter-point. No offense meant.

that is exactly my beef with manumatics. the ones Ive driven will down shift if you floor it, and will upshift at redline. whether you say so or not. nissan would be the first Ive heard of that didnt give the computer control.
