Default Anyone getting BAD GAS MILEAGE?

I have been getting really poor miles per gallon in my Z. I remember reading that some people on the forums are getting up to 28 mpg highway and low 20's in city. When city driving, I am only getting an average of 15 mpg. The one long trip that I took, I averaged only 21 HWY.

Could this be because i didn't break in the engine well? I took it easy for the first 500 miles, but after that I drove pretty crazy. It was too hard to resist in my black Touring!

Could this have effected my engine?

it could have... it could also just be how you drive. I get about 20.5mpg. and if I am strictly highway, I hit around 25mph, or higher if it were a flat stretch.

for city driving tho, it depends how low you shift, I shift very low, like rarely go over 3000RPMs and always hit 6th. if you hit it harder, then your mileage will be worse. lately Ive been hitting it very hard, but its still hanging in there.

I dunno... I'm still getting about 23.5 MPG even with some aggressive driving, although usually I'm shifting at 2800-3000 driving around town. I observed the break-in period up to about 1185 or so, then I let it go. How many miles are you at right now?

Currrently at 2100 miles and have been getting about 22 mpg the entire time. About 80% of my driving is in the the city in stop and go traffic. I tend to shift at about 4k rpm on average. What is your average shift point?

I am now at 2240 miles. It seems like I am getting less mpg than before. Maybe, I am just paranoid!

I usually get around 19 in my daily driving. but on a couple long trips I was getting about 28 with the cruise set at 75 in 6th, two people and the ac on over fairly flat terrain.

I'm at about 5000 miles and my driving is mostly city, if I'm lucky I get 19-20 mpg. Weekend that dips down to 15 mpg because of the usual spirited driving.

Ditto that MPG here at over 6600 miles. You just can't do better, or at least I can't, when I'm busting *** around SUVs 20+ times a day.

I have a Touring 5AT and have been averaging 22-23 mpg combo driving around town. On highway only runs I get 27-28 doing around 70.

I get about 21-23 mpg with about 90% of city and 10% of highway. I drive aggressively on occasion.

I thought I was being paranoid about my gas mileage but I guess I'm not the only one. City driving I get about 16 mpg and there are too many cops for me to drive fast, sooo I know it's not me. It seems like my suv gets better mileage and that thing is a gas guzzler!

I was used to getting 23-24 average during breakin. Now I got 18 on my first tank after break in.

I am getting between 20-21 mpg with about 80% highway / 20% city driving. Still in the break-in period so I don't rev above 4,000 RPM; I spend most of my time around 3,000 RPM.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

The Bode

I have been getting about 20-21 mpg in mostly city driving. When I do complete highway driving I get around 28 mpg when I cruise at 65-70 mph.

Iv'e been getting 23.5 average for a tank of gas. I always reset the trip meter when I get gas so I can see.
