Default Belt Squeal?

Ok so when i start my car sometimes the belt make a loud screeechig sound for about 30 seconds... its very annoying/embarassing... i took it to the dealers and they said that it was normal... that condensation was just built up between the belt is it was causing it to screech like that... i cant help but think that they are giving me the run around... i mean if this is normal, why do i not hear any other cars doing this? what will it take for those guys to replace my belt?!?!?

The belts are too tight.
The belts are loose.
The belts are worn.
The belts are dirty.
The pulleys are dirty.

First, try a can of Belt Ease. Its a spray for belt cleaning. Just spray some on the belts at idle.

I had the exact same high pitched squeel that was so embarrasing. I had UR pulley set installed with the new belts, apparently when the belts were installed, they werent installed tight enough and they stretched and no matter how tight we tightented the tension, it made no difference. So, here is the sweet looking ride that squeels like a violated pig. So the guys at performance nissan suggested I buy another set of belts and re install properly. I have never had an issue since. Thanks to the guys at Performance Nissan.

I also had to re-adjust the the belt tension in order to stop the squeeling a month after new belts were installed for the UR pulley. The belts were only a couple of notches too loose. The UR crank pulley took less than an hour to install with only a 19mm socket wrench and a 10mm wrench.

My AC belt is on mid firm and it still squeeks. I'm wondering how tight I have to tighten that damn belt to get it to stop. When I first installed the belts and tightened them they squeeked. We re-tightend and used a fan to cool the belts off and they still squeeked. After tightening to where they are now they didn't - until now with the AC belt. It's getting damn annoying and it's a PITA to get to tightening them cause the tensioners are on the bottom of the damn car ugh.

here 's what i would do if i were you.....find out how old these belts are...if they are over a years old, get rid of them. If they are brand new...i would check to see if the damn pulleys down there are perfectly aligned. From my own experience, the belts don't need to be tightened too much in order for them not to squeak. You don't want to overtighten the damn thing cuz the bearings will wear out prematurely and it will be a mess. The new belts will just need to be broken in during the first couple of weeks and you might need to re-tighten if it squeaks due to being too loose......good luck with the Z.
They are damn good cars.

Part numbers for the belts. I went into a parts store to buy some belts and they did not have anything for the 350Z in the computer. I did some research and found the belt numbers.

A/C Belt 4PK-0945
Drive Belt 6PK-1175

The "stealer" wanted $17 and $45 respectively, I paid $8 and $15.

yeah i gotta look to see if there may be residue as well on the pulleys that may be causing it to slip. I eyed it last time and all looked well but may have to break out a ruler. It feels a little too tight for my taste to be squeeling. The belts are new, but I ended up ordering Gates belts anway cause these ones were vatozone belts.
