Default how long is too long to drive on the highway during the break-in period?

just got my 350 (touring) and want to run about 150 miles on the highway. is this too long? i will shift between 5th and 6th, and keep the rpm at 4000 or less.
thanks

The main point is to not use the cruise control to keep a constant speed during breakin. I find I can vary the speed between 70-85 as traffic warrants and get nowhere near 4000 rpm in 6th. It's also less boring for a long drive.

As long as you vary the engine rpm's (while remaining under 4000 rpm), you should be fine. IOW, be careful about keeping the engine at the same rpm for more than a few minutes at a time...

Default thanks for the info.........

what are we trying to avoid happening by avoiding the constant speed issue during break-in?

i bought a 1985 300zx-turbo brand new, (still runs perfectly),
and i drove the heck out of it from day 1!!!!
thanks for your info

my understanding is that--> revving engine at constant rpm during initial break-in-period will not allow the piston ring to "seal" properly across all rpm ranges(low<--->high). hope this helps
