Default Coolant Change

The service and maintenance guide that came with my car says to change the coolant after 24 months or 30k miles, but is not 350Z specific. The service manual says 5 years or 60k miles and is 350Z specific.

How often is everyone changing coolant? Thanks.

Get one of those coolant meters that tell you how good the coolant is. If you're in the negative temps and the color looks like its supposed to, theres no reason to change the coolant.

I did a coolant flush at the dealer at 30k miles. They charged me $129.00.

Holy crap, I think the garage I worked at charged about $35 for a coolant change. Considering the only thing you do is, open the valve on the bottom of the rad and let it drain, or pop off the lower rad hose which is much faster but makes a bigger mess. Close the valve or reclamp the lower hose, fill it up with $4 worth of coolant and let it run for 20 minutes to fill the system back up (make sure the thermostat opens and all the hoses get hot). Let it sit for a half hour, to "burp" any bubbles out of the system and then top it off. Shouldnt take more than an hour for the DIYer.

What you stated is true on a coolant change. But, what I had done was a coolant flush. Which is not just replacing the coolant. But, flushing out the entire coolant system. And as you know dealers always charge an arm and a leg for anything.

do a search on jiffy lube. They were busted by a news station for NOT doing the collant flushes and charging the people for it anyways. Jiffy lube is a giant scam.

Raise the front of ur car a little --slide under a oil drain pan open the Radiator spikot ---drain the fluid---Fill the radiator ( After closing the spikot!!!) run the car --drain again. ---Ur flushed !!!! Add distilled water --bout 20 % antifreeze --waterwetter. Cost ****** 20.00 or so. And I'll get nailed for this !!!! Use the old antifreeze to kill those pesky weeds growing along the fence. ---- Fu*k the Franchises ---Their lyers ,cheats and thieves--Dont fall for it !!!!
