weird whistling sound?

weird whistling sound?
Hi guys, looks like I might have a problem on my hands. The other day, as I was speeding up to change lanes, I hear this weird whistling sound. I was at about 80 mph at this point. I decided to ease off the gas a bit. I check my windows to make sure there they weren't cracked open, and I also checked my vents to make sure they were closed all the way. I then decided to determine the problem, so I bring it back up to around 80 mph, and there it is again. It seems to happen when I try to keep a constant speed, but when I give it some gas, like when I try to speed up, the sound goes away. Also, I noticed that if I am going constantly at 80 mph, and then get off the gas, the sound goes away. Since it happens only when im on the gas, im pretty sure it is not some wind creaping through the windows or vents. Could something be wrong with my transmission? I have just passed 10k and its an 05' base. I don't got the gear grinding problems (knock on wood), but i do have that slight rattle when in neutral and take my foot off the clutch. Thanks in Advance

ive got it too. i describe mine as more of a whine sound. im not sure if its the tranny or rear end. me and a nissan technician from my dealer went out in my Z the other day and drove it up to around 80.
if i let off the gas it would happen. i could actually control the sound by touching the gas pedal. but then again if i kept constant pressure on the gas it would do it but as soon as i let off it would stop.
it did it in 5th and 5th very loud but no so much in 4th.
we still arnt sure what it is. there are a few other threads on this.
i let the tech drive and i put my ear to the shift boot to see if it was from the tranny and toward rear. and i honest to god couldnt tell.
any thoughts?
