head light problems?
I just picked up my 350z Performance on Monday after waiting 4 months for it. This car is awsome! It is a big difference in feel coming from an Eclipse GST.
Question: The last couple of days it has been colder than normal at night (around 15-20 degrees F) and after driving for awhile, if I get out of the car and look at the head lights, it looks like they are fogging up on the inside. Is this because of the temperature difference or do you think there is something wrong with it and I should be worried about it?
Thanks,
Tim

well, intially people thought that because the headlight assembly was made in a high humidity enviroment, there was still some condensation left over.
It has been really cold here in chicago, and a couple of nights ago when coming out of a store, i too noticed condensation in the headlight. It went away the next day. More than likely it was the temp difference between the outside lens and the housing.
So, don't worry about it. I would worry if the condensation NEVER goes away though.

According to Nissan they are supposed to do that, and its not a problem.
dvlad's got it.
It is the temp. differences between the HID's and the outside air. I saw the actual dealer notification sheet on this issue (along with the passenger seatbelt rattling issue) on another site.
www.350zforum.com I believe.

Other cars with HIDs didn't have this problem.
If there's condensation inside the headlights and you are able to reproduce it, I suspect it has something to do with improper seal.

Nothing is wrong with it. It is because the lamps let off a lot of heat, and since outside its much cooler, it creates some condensation. Nothing is wrong with it.

I beg to differ. Nissan is full of it.

Why would you want the the headlight unit sealed air tight.... that would make for one expensive bulb change...

Secondly, yes I don't wear glasses. Thank God for that!
Thirdly, condensation inside the headlight is NOT NORMAL even tho not a big deal to many. I don't have to go into great details and I don't assume you want to see that on your car. It's okay if you disagree but I'm really **** about such undesirables.
Lastly, if it's true Nissan stated this is not a problem at all, the car mfg is half correct. It's not a problem because it doesn't interfere with the drivability and performance of the car. However, it does reflect the quality of their products. Don't get me wrong, I like Nissan but misc issues reported thus far do not sound too appetizing, especially on the legendary Z car. That's all.
