Default Gas light/gauge problem.....Help before i go to dealer!

alright, so i start driving, and notice that my gas gauge is low, but no gas light or flashing from the digitial, so i look at my dte, and its 4 miles left!!! urgh, had to fill up. a week later, i get off the freeway, and i have 80 miles left. I drive one mile, and BAM! gas light comes on and i have 4 miles left! WTF? I wasnt driving crazy either. dont know what to do. will the car shut down if it has gas in it, but the guage is reading 0? Bad sensor maybe? i think im gonna have to make a trip to the dealer, what do u think?

yea same thing happened to me...when i fill up it never reaches the top line. Took it to the dealer, they gave me free gas and ordered a replacement fuel pump...hopefully monday they'll have the fuel pump and install it and that'll fix the problem...

I think the gauge and DTE are giving a reading that is contiually adjusting according to your driving pattern. When my low fuel light comes on I usually look at the DTE which will be around 40-50 miles. I've noticed if I drive extremely conservative that the gauge will actually go up and the low fuel light will go off. DTE will also adjust to 60-80 miles.

As for the tank not filling all the way up. It's been said that this is due to the saddle shaped design of the tank. Mine has the same problem from time to time.

Default Same issue

I have the same problem with the gauge and sometimes the gas tank won't fill up properly as well. It gives me feedback like its full but only a gallon or two pumped. On one occasion the friggin thing spilled gas out the top and all over me and the car before clicking off!

Has the fuel pump replacement fixed the problem with the your fuel tank problems?

I realized there was a TSB about a cutoff valve replacement that would cure the premature cutoff issue. I have the same issue, and will get the valve replaced with some fuel hoses that got recalled recently. I heard the labor is going to be intensive.

My car is off warranty. I am bringing it back for the recall but they'll try to a$$ rape me on the fuel sensor fix.

Do you think that this fix coincides with the fuel line fix at all? Will they have better access to the sensor while the rear axle etc. is off?
