Default Does anyone else have a discrepancy between the digital & analog speedos?

I've noticed that my analog and digital speedos don't match. Generally the analog is faster by about 2 mph. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I alone?

Thats the way it is! The digi speedo is the most correct as it comes form the computer. The analog is always ahead by a couple or three mph.

I bet the analog is from the computer too, but they build in some extra mph for us chronic speeders.

Just wondering if anyone has done any tests to "prove" that the digital speedo is in fact more accurate than the analog one?

I haven't been able to find one of those "Your Speed : XXX"-side-of-the-road-police-sign-things in my neighborhood as of late, otherwise I'd do some unscientific tests to make sure.

just zooom by a hiway cop at 80, and see what he writes down on the ticket.

Then explain to the judge how you needed a "Scientific Test" on how accurate your meter is.

the average speed on mine also seems to be different. find a nice flat, straight area with no traffic and set the cruise control. All three will read different values (at least on my car)

FYI, There's a permanent "Your Speed Is:" on the southern stretch of West Lake Samammish Pkwy. I believe there one for each lane (north and south bound).

I don't think that the analog is from the computer. It's probably from a good old-fashioned cable. I'll have to check the shop manual to be sure on this, though. But judging by it's movement, it's mechanical, not digital. It makes more sense, too. Why bother converting a digital signal to drive a mechanical gauge? That would just complicate things.

I've noticed that mine are pretty equal up to about 100 mph, but after that, my digital seems to gain about 2 to 3 mph over my analog. Am I the only one with this experience?

They are all electronic. I believe thay have been for some time. No cables! Check out the SM. BTW, the diagnostic mode for the spedo is cool.
