so i noticed that my car is making a squealing noise so i made an appointment to take it in to the dealer to have it checked out. How much should it cost if they need to replace or retension the belts? Just want to make sure they dont quote me something outrageous.

No more then $100. I had mine done a couple of months ago and thats what was quoted, they should tell you the amount before you get it done. It is a very simple thing to do. I stayed and watched them do it, tried it myself when I installed my lightweight pulleys and it was a snap. GL

 

a simple re-tightening of the belts will take care of the squeals. The shop will charge you for an hour if they have a minimum(new belts extra)....i'd do it myself.

 

on doing it yourself. Its pretty simple.

 

anyone have a writeup on doing it yourself?

 

1) Jack car up
2) Remove under tray
3) tighten belts

Tight enough so they don't squeal. LOL
You want about a 1/4 inch of play.

 

Just buy belt conditioner and spray those damm belts. Bottle only costs around 3 bucks at kragen or Pep Boys. Your supposed to condition them every 3000 miles.

 

Tried that workd for 2 weeks then back to the same problem. Conditioner works well but not for long.
