It says that if you start smelling burnt oil, have it checked out at the dealer since youmight be running with insufficient oil.

A member of My350Z also reported this issue, but this is the first I'm hearing about it.

Don't you love that ford guy on there talking about recalls? LOL.

BTW would an oil leak affect the oil pressure at all? Because my car seems to have pretty good pressure when warming up, but after it reaches operating temp. the oil pressure goes down to 1/4. Is that normal or bad?

How many miles do you have on your car so far?

Since I heard about the oil leak issues, I've been keeping an eye on it. Sure enough I've been noticing some oil spots under the car. I have less than 600 miles on the car so far. I mentioned the burning smell to the dealer and they said it was normal. I need to find out where the leak is coming from before taking it back to have it checked.

"To determine if it was oil spilled during the the first change or a leak, he cleaned the engine down, then ran it for awhile. Sure enough, it's a leak. They think it's coming past the intake gasket. They are working on it now to determine the source of the problem"

So that's what they mean by engine (exhaust ) coating
which causes that burning smell

I dropped off the car at the dealership this morning for them to check the oil leak and the throw out bearing noise. I was told by the service advisor that it's the extension housing seal that's leaking. The leak is dropping on the exhaust and that's what causing the burning smell and smoke. Anyway, he said that they contacted Nissan and they're waiting for the engineer(s) to show up tomorrow to take a look. He didn't just want to change the seal. Regarding the noise, he told me that it looks like the front input bearing is causing the problem. But, I would say it's not for sure. I took a couple of pictures while he was showing me the leak. I'll post them later tonight. It was a pretty healthy leak. Hope they can find a fix soon. Only have 730 miles on the car.

Just got an update from the dealership. Nissan engineers didn't show up yet . I was told that they are researching these issues. Meanwhile, they were told to order a new transmission and drive shaft for my car. Who knows when the parts will be in though. I am gonna go and pick up the car this evening. I guess I can drive it without worrying what happens to the transmission.

Here's a pic of the drive shaft. You can see the leak at the bottom.

Well I too have an oil leak on the left side. I found it while I was changing my oil. Have have 3100 miles on my car. The dealer did my first oil change at 1500 miles. The oil was still gold. When I checked my oil last week with 3000 miles the oil was super dirty like the dealer hadn't changed my oil. So I decided to change it myself only to discover the dealer did change my oil and I developed an oil leak on the left side.

Well hopefully everyone gets their problems fixed.

I also noticed a spot of oil in the belly pan when I first changed the oil at 1200 miles. Got the car back from the dealer Friday after having them do the 3k service and they confirmed that I have an oil leak but they think it's the valve cover gasket. They put dye in the oil and will do a black light test in a couple of days.

I noticed that I not only leak it but I am burning it also. When I step on the throttle puffs of blue smoke come out of the exhaust. Anyone else burning oil?

jeffa55,

I just noticed the noise when the car is idling. When I depress the cluch it goes away. It's more obvious when the car is in an inclosed area like the garage. It's not really a clicking sound though. You may have a different problem there. I am now waiting for a new tranny. Good luck.
