Default WTF? dealer ripping me off?

wtf

i bought my car into the dealer because when i shifted into 2nd and 5th, it would grind. also, when i accelerate it would make a knocking noise. turns out i needed a new transmission, which is covered under warranty.

they told me along with a new transmission, i am going to need new clutch parts, which will be about $450.

today they call me and tell me that the transmission was put in successfully, but they found another problem and that the clutch master cylinder has to be replaced, which is an addition $465.

is this legit? or are they ripping me off?? if the problem was the tranny, then replace the tranny. thats it. the clutch worked fine, it never slipped or anything.

what do you think??

Get those parts while their free, you would pay massive amounts of money. BUT if its covered under warranty why are you paying anything? Maybe you need to reach out to Nissan corporate......

Some items are wear items. Some are not. A clutch is a wear item.

Clutch master cylinder? What is wrong with it? Deficiency of materials. If so that is a warranty fix.

what i dont understand, is what can cost $450 in "clutch parts" and then the cylinder is $465.

I had the clutch master cylinder replaced 3x on my former car - RSX-S - it should be covered under warranty.

Many of the previous trans replacements have included fresh clutches.
This is what Nissan did when my trans was replaced on my '03 Z.

Can a trans mess up a clutch? If the trans/trans area is messed up, and causes the clutch assembly to to fully disengage..etc, then why would this be the consumer's fault that it wore out early? Strange.

tell your dealer to replace whats warrantied. that should include the trans and clutch (per standard procedure for an internal trans problem). what "trans parts" are they talking about beyond the master cylinder?

Master cylinder shoul dbe under warranty. It was on my 89' 240sx. They should chare you for labor on the clutch since the tranyy was out any way, you may have to pay for the cluthc. I'd moan about the defective tranny and blam that for you clucth wear.

Good luck

No they just replaced the clutch disk as per Nisssan. The pressure plate is reused. And the trans comes with a new release bearing.

If you clutch had problems, it may have affected the master cylinder. I had a 1991 Dodge Stealth with a hydraulic clutch, and when the clutch fork broke, it went right through the master cylinder, so I had to replace both.
