Default TONS of Info about Motor oil, filters, etc.

I discovered this forum... which is amazingly VERY active, and they have a lot of good info. Definitely more info than you could ever ask for.

A lot of guys over there have done some extensive testing with regards to oil, filters, etc.

http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi

From reading a few threads, it seems Wix (Napa gold, etc) filters are generally preferred over most others (best bang for your buck, used in NASCAR etc).

They respect the high end synthetic oils as well as K&N filters, mobil1 filters, etc. But they seem to teach how to get the most bang for the buck when it comes to filters and oils. They seem dedicated to getting the most out of every oil change... maximum service interval without any negative effects.

One thing I learned (which I had suspected before) is that Fram sucks the big one.

They also have some info on who makes what filter...etc.

Plus, I have been reading in random places on the internet that Pennzoil and Quaker state dino oils can cause sludge badly. But this website dispelled those rumors. Supposedly pure myth, most oils should be fine.

Check it out if you're curious about oil...

I use Wix filters, they're great and inexpensive. I buy them from a mom and pop auto parts store. It is the only filters he will carry

I work at a Carquest store and our premium filter is a WIX Filter! I push many people to buy them because they are great quality and a small price.

I would also like to add that Fram really does suck! I have cut open all of their filters and all of them suck. They have very bad paper quality and hardly any of it in thier filters.
