Default ?? on manual tranny braking downhill

I have 800 miles on my new Z and have loved everyone of them. Have a ? about the MT. My 84 300zx that I have driven for 12 years will tend to slow me down when going down a hill in 3rd or 4th gear. And my new Z does this also but it seems real jerky even though I am only traveling at 30-40 mph and this is not a steep hill. My 300zx was much smoother. Anyone else notice this?

mine jerky mainly in 1st and second, but I dont have any manual experience so I cant comment on if its normal. I can just back it up for you that your not alone. tho for me I dont get too much stopping power in 3rd or 4th unless Im pretty high in the gears. which in 3rd and 4th, 3-40mph would not qualify for.
