New Owner - Clicking Noise in Neutral?
I just bought a used '03 with 38k miles. I'm inexperienced with manual cars, sorry if you've heard this question a billion times, but I noticed when I'm in neutral and release the clutch, I can hear a little bit of a clicking noise that sounds like its coming from the engine/front of the car. When the clutch is all the way in, the noise goes away.
Is this supposed to happen? If not, what's the probable cause? I'd appreciate any experienced help. Thanks in advance!

Noisy clutch in 350Z's is norm when released, bit of a chattering/rattling sound kind of. I work on them daily at the dealer. Some of them they can be a bit loud. Others you dont hear. It doesnt affect the performance.
This is a simple case of driveline lash. It's perfectly normal. Don't worry about it.
When you are in neutral and the clutch is released, the engine is engaged to the transmission. Even though you are in neutral, the transmissions inner workings must turn with the engine. This makes noise, and it is normal. When you depress the clutch, you disengage the transmission from the engine. The transmission stops turning and the noise goes away. Pretty simple huh?
