so i've got about 4 months and 3.3k miles since i last put in my 5 quarts of amsoil and a K&N filter. I'm planning on doing a 1k mile trip soon though.. should i change the filter? Does anyone have test data showing oil characteristics @5k and 8k and maybe 10k miles with 5w-30 amsoil?

 

Synthetic oils can go 7500 miles easily.

I wouldn't worry about it, but be sure to check oil *level* as well as normal operating *pressure* before going on your trip.

Even if you go 1k there and back you'll only be at 5.3k on this change... shoudl be fine.

reasoned asked is i have used nothing but amsoil on all my cars, well its good, but it can be bad if you are not 100% on what your previous owner had used (bad as in if he used non-synthetic oil, and how often changed)

I bought my Z with around 40,000 and didnt know what previous owner used for oil and how ofen, i would have thought a full synthetic/ but when i put full synthetic amsoil every 5k 5w-30 i started burning a quart of oil every 500miles after putting 20,000 miles on the car.

PROBLEM....... AMSOIL BROKE UP ALL SLUDGE UP FROM CRAP OIL USED BEFORE AND CLOGGED UP ALL PORTS IN MY VALVE COVER AND MOTOR. I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT TOOK 3 ENGINE FLUSHES AND HAD TO TAKE VALVE COVER OFF AND CLEAN ALL PORTS,
