When does the Check Engine Light come?

I was curious when the check engine light would come on? it came on, on my car i reached almost 26,000 miles can that be one of the reasons or its just something else?

Variety of reasons, loose gas cap, you added a mod, bad 02 sensors. List goes on and on.

Just go to Auto Zone, they can tell you what did it for free.

Check engine light=emissions malfunction(sensors...ect)

It comes on when it is time to check the engine.

It could be a number of different things...

Best thing to do is bring it to a dealer and pull the code...

most likely the gas tank cap if you didn't just add a mod. mine comes on every few months coz i always forget to tighten the gas tank cap until it clicks once or twice.

btw, it will take at least a day before the light goes back off if it is the gas tank cap.
