Brake Job by Dealer?!?!
Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on here so go easy on me... aiite... i took my car in to the Nissan Dealer in san diego (Mossy) for an oil change and warranty work and they call me later and says that my front brakes are done for. I am at 33346 miles, but I got the pads and rotor changed at arond 17k miles at goodyear. now he is telling me that i need to do a complete front brake job which will run me at $497!!!
he said that when i took it to goodyear they threw away the "hardware"? so i need the rotors, pads, and hardware!
I was just wondering if you guys think that is worth it or this guy is full of S**T
is there something as an hardware in brake? Any help ASAP is fully appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

Ya you could need front rotors and pads after 20,000km's. Depends on how you've been driving it.
You can check them out yourself as it's not hard at all to do. There's awsome DIY's on this site with detailed pics on how to do it.
If you do need them done do them yourself for about $200.
You'll need rotors, pads, and some brake lube.
I'm not sure as to the "hardware" quote. I do know that sometimes shops include a "hardware" fee for any misc bolts, washers, etc... that come up as being needed during the job but a brake job is pretty straight forward.

Labor charge is usually around $207.88 with standard "Dealer Labor Pricing"...
I give a discount on labor to my customers... as well as parts...
Front Pads & Rotors: $196.50 + Tax = $212.71
My labor rate = $162
Total out the door using all Factory parts: $374.71

Hawk HPS or something like that if you do not want the dust...

Brembos have a firmer feel on the pedal. The average driver or someone like me on the wrong side of 50 would rarely use its advantages of fade resistance with repeated hard use.
I just like to know it is there and I like the wow factor.
I lucked out with some lightly used rotors for 50 bux, all four and take off pads for 20.
Far cry from ~1600.00
