Car Won't Start!
I've ran a search and have been reading up on related issues.
All my gauges work. My DTE is on --- and when I turned my car off last night I was on empty (Gas light was on) Headunit pops on, but when I put the headlights on, the headunit and gauges shut off.
Could this mean that I'm both out of gas and my battery is dying?
I went to the gas station and bought the only gas can they had (1 gallon)
and put it in my Z.
Sorry for sounding like a noob, and thanks for all the future help.

Head unit is just dimming when you turn your lights on. Your battery is not dead. Just put some gas in there. It might take a few tries for the fuel pump to pick up the new gas if you ran it completely dry. You might even try getting another gallon. Lastly you have to promise to never do this again or else you loose your Z privileges.

^^^^ +1 Bad things happen when you totally run your car out of gas. You can pick up any sediment that is on the bottom of your tank and suck that right through your system as well. You have 10 minutes in the time out corner.

Pretty hard to run out of gas in a 350Z. First your gauge nears E, then the gas warning light goes on when you have about 6 gallons left, next the computer blinks the DTE showing distance to empty, then when the DTE gets to --.-- you still have at least 2 more gallons. Something was distracting you. I hope she was worth it.

Still not running...I've put in 2 gallons of gas so far. I think I need to recharge the battery. Everytime i turn on the windshield wipers, all the power dies. I can lower my windows, but they seem to be lowering slower then usual, and I can't bring them back up.

ok, lets think about this for like 5 seconds. This is troubleshooting 101 for people who need the refresher. If you try to use your vacuum and it doesn't work, do you:
A. check the bag to see if it's full
b. look in the kitchen sink
c. hit it a couple of times
d. try plugging it into a different outlet
If you answered D you may be excused. For the rest of you it's time for remedial troubleshooting.
If you go to start your car and the engine doesn't turn over (that means make the rurr rurr sound) or if it turns over slowly why would you think the porblem might be fuel related? On the other side of things if you try to start your car and it does turn over why would you check the battery? This is simple basic stuff people, my mom can do this, heck my grandma can do this, and she's 83 years old and she knows so little about cars she couldn't tell you the difference between a spark plug and a dorito. While we are at it your tire pressure is set to the sticker on the inside of the drivers door, not the raised lettering on the tire itself.
Now, that matter is settled, take your car to the nearest dealer hand the man the keys and ask for a pink Saturn. If it were up to me your Z priveleges would be permanently revoked. (JK) Doesn't anybody teach this in drivers ed anymore, or were we just not paying attention that day?
