Default Clunk when braking.

When driving, I've noticed that there is a clunking noise whenever I brake abruptly or am stopped on a hill. It doesn't happen all the time, and is somewhat sporradic. I've searched around and it seemed to me like I might have bad/loose balljoints. I was just hoping someone with more knowledge could give me some insight before I try horse around trying to fix it myself or bring it to the dealer.

It seems sort of odd that the balljoints would be loose or bad, since the car is an 04.5 and only has less than 25k miles on it. Any help would be great.

i had a clunk coming from my rear breaks when in reverse and braking. I swapped the pads out with Hawk's and it stopped. I chalked it up to cheapo aftermarket pads that were not worth a damn. May not be what your experiencing, but possibly worn down pads or loose clamps holding your pads on and they adjust slightly when you brake hard.

THanks for the tip. It's not affecting causing me to wander, or causing any steering problems that I can see. I guess I'll just ask the mechanics to take a look at the brakes/balljoints when I bring it in for the next service.

i also had a clunk when reversing. Switched out the pads with something more reputable, and it stopped. +1 on the cheap a$$ pads... go with hawk or better.
