Rattling Noise Inside Trunk Hatch!!?!?
I dont even know if this post belongs here but this noise is driving me nuts. When Im driving on uneven pavement I hear a rattle in my trunk hatch. It sounds like it might be either the inside panel or the tie bar cover. Has anyone else had this problem? I took it to a dealership, but of course they didnt hear anything. I took the hatch inside panel off but didnt see anything wrong or out of the ordinary. HELP!!!

Loose hatch plastic trim piece
After I put in my exhaust, I got the rattles too. I think I have narrowed it to the plastic trim on the hatch itself.
I bought a small vacuum the other day and it was a tight fit, pushing against both the floor on the bottom and the hatch on top. Not a single sound or vibration on the way home. I checked it out and the box wasn't touching any of the sides or panels, just the floor and the hatch. I have some sound deadening I will try and get back to this thread and let you know how it goes.
Anyone else have this problem with the trunk rattling? It sucks!

I got the rattle after installing exhaust as well..
I think it's the bass of the exhaust that's rattling something... hard to source it out though.
let us know how it goes. I'm gonna try taking apart the plastic trims as well.

Same problem here. Although it only seems to happen once the car has been sitting in the sun for a while. I think that it something to do with the striker plate in the trunk. I took paneling off of the hatch and couldn't find anything wrong?

I have the same thing. Very light, but enough to make me wonder what the heck it is. Was driving and it I put my hand on the top were the plastic is for the hatch it would go away, as soon as I took my hand off it would come back. It has to be something in there. Maybe the Shocks for the hatch, maybe the windshield wiper component. I dont know, but I want to!

FWIW I had a rattle and it ended up being the plastic that surrounds the center brake light on the rear window. The plastic has a tiny gap between it and the window and that was rattling together on occassion (heat dependent?). I shoved a thin strip of foam pad along the sides and it's quiet now.
Not sure if that's what you guys are hearing but trust me, it's worth checking out.

Underneath the plastic is a damper weight. It has 4 (I think) bolts holding it in. It's possible that they may have become loose from vibration. You can carefully remove the liner and check it out yourself. With the rear wing, I actually removed this weight to allow my hatch to remain open.

Secondly, the weight in the hatch sounds like a possible culprit.
Thirdly, I think ANXIOUZ proposed a pretty good hypothesis about the third brake light.
If you check all those and still hear the problem, give us another shot at it.
Good luck!

I've never taken one of those apart, so can't be of much help other than to ask if anything is loose, and you've obviously checked the wiper and the housing for that, so... Have you tried activating your rear wiper when the noise is ocurring?
That would be an interesting thing to check out.

Hmm, I havnt tried removing my wiper motor, but will do. Maybe its just loose or something. The noise only happens at certain rpms, but it happens in every gear. it also happens When Im sitting at the drag strip with loud **** drag cars,

I took off the 3rd brake light plastic, rattle's still there. I think it's originating from the plastic pieces behind the speaker under our quarter windows. That piece moves freely.
