2 and 3 may be okay. He may have just hydrolocked. Many times the car will shut off before the water actually reaches the engine. If it's 1 then you may be talken about eletrical problems. +1 on calling the insurance at that point.

Oh, before you do any of that, make sure your insurance premiums are current!
I feel for you. My 2006 Z got flooded back in Nov of 06. The garage it was in flooded approx 1.5ft or about 1" above the line you see from the rocker merging with the quarter panel. I promptly striped the interior (seats and as much of the carpet as possible, then went to Lowes and bought a dehumidifier. Left it in there for about a week straight. Before doing any of this, make sure you takes lots of pics for the insurance. I ended up keeping mine after finding out that the BCM (located next to the clutch pedal behind the cover) was causing some of the issues. Also had to replace the alternator. Total cost w/o labor = 250 (alt) + 400 (bcm). Depending on the type of flooding it was (sea/brackish water or fresh) will dictate whether the insurance will total it or fix it. Mine was in brackish water and it was declared totaled. The upside - I bought the car for 1/3 of the price it would have cost me. Let me know if you need more info.
The big decision - do you want to keep the car? If you decide to keep it, flush all the fluids and go through it with a fine comb, even after you get it running.

i wouldn't even know what to do if it got to 1 .. cuz your car shut off and you can't get out of the car ... and your worse nightmare would be if more water piled up and now you're caught under all that water ... lol yikes.
