Default Key stuck in the ignition

I have an 03, and the key is stuck in the ignition. It will not turn all the way back to the lock position and the steering wheel will not lock in place when turned all the way to one side. A couple of days ago when I pulled the key out, it felt like it was catching on something and now it won't come out. I've looked through the 350z service manual and have not found anything relating to my problem in it. If anyone has any ideas on whats wrong and any suggestions on how to fix it, please let me know.

Are you sure it's not just the pressure from the steering wheel against the lock? Try wiggling the steering wheels back and forth slightly (like you're turning) while simultaneously turning the ignition off so you can get it free and pull it out.

I've tried that several times and had a couple other people try it. I can turn the steering wheel freely to either side and the key will not release.

Then it sounds like it's definitely broken. Trip to the dealer?

Is the car an auto?

My isuzu rodeo had the same problem. It was the lock out cable from the auto shifter. take apart the housing around the gear selector. mine was fixed with a couple of shim washers.

cost to fix $0.

Does the car have power? If you have no power when you put your key in and turn the ignition switch it will not let you turn it back to the locked position and you can not get the key out.
