Yeah, sorry dude. GC is no more. The US made oil is a G3 base stock, just like the rest of their line. It's not that bad of an oil, but Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30 has done much better in UOA results for less money. I would say the best replacement for you is Mobil1 0W-40. The cSt values are almost identical, and the M1 0W-40 has excellent UOA results. Check the sticky thread in the main Engine/Drivetrain forum titled, "Oil Analysis Thread"

Prob no sense in me switching to GC now, then... I have 5 qts of it I purchased a few months ago to have on hand when I switched over, so if anyone currently using it wants one more batch of it for their Z, PM me. Dunno what it takes to ship oil, though... If anybody in SoCal wants it local, that'd be cool.

As Resolute says, check the "oil analysis" thread in the main engine/drivetrain forum. Royal Purple has not fared well in the oil analysis done thus far on the VQ35DE. He has done an excellent job of listing the pros and cons of several oils there and is collecting a database to offer factual information about the subject.

yeah...as soon as they guy told me, i went to the 4 or 5 nearest Autozones and bought all they had....that being said, all they had ended up being 10qts total. I was under the assumption on the oil analysis page that the mobile one stuff wasn't as good...or that it wasn't a true synth...am i right? pretty much looking for the next best thing that can go 5-7k between changes.

I started using Castrol Syntec 10-30w. I think its better then Mobil 1. The Z gained 1mph in the 1/4! same conditions.

I don't know what the deal is with GC, but after being off the shelf at my local Auto Zones for over a year, they are now stocking it again. They had the US made 0W-30 before, but now the GC is back. Maybe customer demand has something to do with it, I dunno. But it's nice to see it back on shelves.

No.
I've never said that M1 wasn't "as good" or a true synthetic base stock. To the contrary, if you read through the oil analysis page, you'll see it's quite the opposite. M1 oil analysis results are all on the first page, you could just look for yourself, and M1 0W-40 has always been a recommended oil.
