I've done a lot of tinkering with LED lighting. I'm not familiar with your particular brank and model but from what I've seen all the third party LED lamps and light assemblies have HIGHER (not lower as somone had mentioned) resistance and therefore draws less current than the stock incans. The easiest solution is to install a PARALLEL (not inline which I assume means series) resistor. The stock 21/5W 7443 (T20) bulb has a resistance of approximately 10 ohms for the brake light and 40 Ohms for the parking light circuit, so you need to simulate these with high-wattage resistors which you should be able to find here or here. This resistor needs to be spliced into the leads parallel to the LEDs.

Also any time you work on the electrical system, I suggest you disconnect the battery becasue if it short circuits you will at very least blow a fuse (which btw is ***** to replace) or worse, damage the control unit.

i've been testing these resistors i found online that are for led lights. i just put it on about 2 weeks ago and the problem hasn't come back yet. let's see how these do. if it works then we got a solution.

I was thrilled to see what I can find out of this thread as I'm experiencing the same problem (losing power at 1st and 2nd gear), EXCEPT I don't have any LED tail lamp and my cruise control works just fine... it seems like something else is interfering the engine output in my case.. a sensor or some sort... :/

If it helps... I found out my problem. Water in the air intake.

About the same time that I installed my LED lamps, I also installed an air bypass valve into my cold air intake. It was also the rainy season here.

I'm not quite sure of all the details, but when it rains heavily, my car can't exceed 2500RPM. When it hits that mark... it starts revving erratically. What's weird is that the car doesn't even have to have been running in the rain. If it's parked outside and it rains and stops before I run the car... it still happens.

My best guess is that the cone air filter gets saturated and doesn't allow airflow into the rest of the intake tube... so the negative pressure created from combustion in the engine draws air through the air bypass valve. The ABV can't sustain the airflow demanded by the engine at high RPM, resulting in A) loss of power due to lack of combustible air and B) possibly sucking water right past the ABV and into the engine. I'm not quite sure, but there's also a possibility that the lack of air into the engine could also cause it to flood by not completely burning the fuel.

Long story short... it wasn't my LED tail lights.

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, please post them here. Thanks!
