u know... i have this problem too... but it doesnt happen that often. i have a roadster also... and i dont think it is the heat.. cause it hasnt happened for like 5months now, and it is the middle of summer.
it happens more when i drive the car hard. i dont exactly know the problem but... it doesnt bothers me that much.

I have figured it out... Ive even spoke with one of the Nissan service techs about it. They had never heard about it and kind of just shrugged off the thought.
I have figured out that the tach only sticks when it is hit by direct sunlight (window rolled down, or top down) It does not only affect roadsters. Its happend to me a few times when the sun was behind my car and the middle of the tach (where the needle connects to) is being hit with direct sun light. This happend to me last month so I even grabbed my cell phone and recorded it. I recorded going different speeds on the digital display and the needle sticking at 2,000rpm. -- I have also noticed that when I put my hand over the tach and removing the direct sunlight, it takes about 4-5 seconds for the tach to become un-stuck.
So, Its a known thing, rarly happens... but no one has ever been able to prove it. I have video of it on my cell if people really want me to post it up.
