So I walked into a mechanic shop yesterday and got a quote for a clutch and flywheel install. Labor only. They quoted me on $331 + cost of fluid. Seemed good, came back today to drop off car. Now heres the bad part, upon writing my invoice i told him its a 2006. I later showed him my clutch + flywheel (JWT Combo) He said i need a pilot and throw out bearing, i said ok, extra 70$ + 35$ labor for that. So that brings me to around $450. Seems reasonable. Now they say they gotta add an extra 250$ to the Clutch labor since its an 06 and is mroe difficult. I ask why he told me 331$ the day before. He replies with "the computer system only went as high as 2004 year models, so i quoted you on that, upon further research i found that the 2006 years are more difficult." So your total now is $724
My question is, is he right? Or trying to BS me? Are all those extra parts necessary, and is a 2006 truly more difficult to install? Thanks, and any shops around the 626 area (Pasadena, Arcadia, Temple City, and Rosemead) would you guys recommed?
Thanks, Joe -
