Its not just the 06's, my 04 has the same problem. The dealership will replace your steering wheel, but they wont replace the door handles or dash.

wow i must say these pictures are rather disheartening. When i test drove the 350z I was very impressed with the feel of the interior pieces for their fit n finish.

I suggest speaking to Nissan of the USA not your local stealership in order to get this issue resolved. This is obviously something that should not happen to a new or even a newer car.

I have an 05 with 30K Kms... I am also having the steering wheel metal part and interior door handle issues...

What if we can take out the metal part of the steering wheel, polish the lacker off it and paint it again?

Also the door handle...

the Z's stock interior (quality wise) sucks big time. get a CF interior kit and you wont have those scratches.

Cisococerna's thread was locked, why, I don't understand.. However I wanted to confirm with Cisco's theory that I reckon it's the heat from the sun as he left his car in the sun all day.. A most people know, heat causes molecules to expand and therefore make a material soft or even melt. Different materials have different melting points.. It's quite possible the heat from the sun heated up the materials and made them soft and extremely prone to scratching... even tar on the road can melt in extremely warm days, imagine what it can do to cars sitting in the sun all day.

My suggestion, look after your car better and get a car cover if your parking it in the sun for extensive periods of time.

While I understand people thinking that CiscoCerna is abusing his car, it seems to me that this is a problem with a certain batch of the ruberized finished interiors of the 06.

Will post pictures if anyones interested.
Dont' think so.....It's started happening on my '05!!!!

i personally don't think its because of sitting in the sun all day... because the only time mine is in the sun... is when i'm at school. two days a week. otherwise ... its in my garage.

Not a single scratch on my '06's interior after more than a year. You all need to be more careful. Olivia, yours looks horrible!

my 05 has some marks in the metal parts of the steering wheel and on that handle part of the door. I do not wear any rings and never touch the metal part of the steering wheel. sh*tty quality interior FTL

My pictures are in the original thread as well...Suggestion: If you seriously want any chance of Nissan addressing this problem, one of us needs to call Nissan USA, escalate the call to a supervisor, get contact info so that we can all deal with the same person. Calling up there and getting a different person every time is going to just get us all hosed one by one, our only chance in proving our case is if we can get someone on our side who is in the position to do something...
