By any chance do you guys use a lot of lotion or sun screen? I do service writing for a Mercedes shop and some of the older model SLK and C Classes had this problem except in its later stages it actually degrades the rubberized pieces into garbage, just food for thought if that's the case.

Just phoned courtesyparts.com and gave them the 80961 part number. To get the correct color they checked against my vehicles VIN number. The color that matched my car was not listed on their website and so they custom ordered it, should take a couple of days.

I am a parts engineer for Ford Motor Co. (i know I drive a NIssan) I do have a ford that i have to drive to work. ANYWAY I see parts everyday of the week and they are outsourced to so many different companys. I see the vehicles at every process of production and you would not believe what they allow. There motto is.....ship it. So its not just our vehicles. I hade to take my plastic covers on my door and sand them down and paint them. You can take a look. But the more of us that bring it up...maybe they will...No they wont but worth a try.

I have a scratch on the drivers side pull handle and when it happened I had less than 1,800 miles on my 06. I only wipe the interior down with a cloth and do not use any lotions, sunscreen, etc. So far all my other interior rubberized pieces do not have any problems but they may have been touched only 2-3 times since I bought the car new.

These guys have some interesting options for the door switch handles. The rubber coating on mine is scratching off as well.

I haven 10k miles on mine and I am very careful while touching the panels... NAILS, RINGS, BRACELETS will scratch the finish.... It's paint, therefore it will scratch off.... just like the outside off your car.... if you're carefull you will have no issues.....the only fix for it, would be replace w/ other non nissan panels, but this is how it's made..... so even if you get new ones, the same thing will happen

I have an 08 with 600 miles on it!!! The rubber on the driver side door handle has a tiny scrath that exposes the aluminum underneath!!! I am so pissed because its 3 weeks old!!! WTF will it look like in a year?! And it has nothing to do with heat because i live in Cleveland, Ohio and its cold. it feels good to the touch but its just gonna get worse! i dont wear rings, my nails are short "im a guy", Nissan dropped the ball on this s h i t!!!

i don't think they wrap in real carbon fiber and $695 is too much for painted peices...
