broken plastics / front bumper ?????
Ok. During my last oil change I noticed two broken pieces of of plastic laying on the under-cover when I removed it. Looked around... but couldn't tell where it came from and it looked unimportant so I moved on...

So today I was looking around my engine bay and noticed a cover on the passenger side was not attached to anything and just hanging there. After a little manipulating I got it out.

So.... does anyone know what the two broken plastic pieces go to?
Does anyone know how that cover could have just fallen off? Is it important enough that I need to repair it? The one on the other side doesn't look like it's protecting anything.

Those are diverters that are nice to have in place but not crucial, If I recall, are held in place by plastic expanding plugs as are your inner fenders and Bumper top, Turbo an d SC installs sometimes require they be modded or removed. Seems I have a couple laying around, I use one to hold bolts when Im working on something

OP these are held on by them cheap clips.. Simply order the part and some clips.. Youll need prob about 4.. and it simply deflects rocks from your radiator, oil cooler etc..
I was wanting to know what the two broken pieces of plastic were, and if they were related.
I also wanted to know if I should bother with the hassle of putting the big piece back where it goes... the one that came off looks like it's protecting the lines to the PS oil cooler and radiator(the fins on my oil cooler took a rock hit a long time ago and are slightly damaged, so i could imagine what a rock hit to the lines might do)... and the one on the drivers side looks totally useless....
So clips are what I'm missing... thanks I will have to pick some up....
Can you get to these from underneath with the underside cover removed?

Well... the car has been my DD for almost 4 years & 50,000 miles.... I guess it's about time for little silly things to start happening.... the plastic liners around the wheel would be a good guess.... I'll check it out.
Well, I changed my oil again....and found out where it came from. It wasn't the wheel liner.... it came from pretty much the same place as the big piece... in retrospect I know when it happened.... I was on a road trip when some idiot in a 6 series BMW was sleeping in the fast lane and ran over a huge piece of a tire and kicked it up and it smacked my front passenger side bumper pretty hard....
