Howdy. About 2 years ago I replaced the battery on my Z. I seemed to be able to this without any problems. Then about a year ago, I needed to use my valet and spare key. Now, the car won't start with these keys (it used to). Was it because I replaced the battery? I find that hard to believe but can't believe anything else caused the issue.

I'm asking because I need to replace the battery again (I live in the desert) and I need to disconnect the battery to replace the steering wheel. I'm deathly afraid that if I disconnect the battery that the one key I still have working is going to stop working.

Is it the battery that stoppped my other keys from working?
If yes (or no) any suggestions on replacing the battery?
Also, when I replaced it the first time, I had to break off those little grommets that hold the battery cover on. Any idea where I can get those?
