It's probably not good to do that (leave it off while driving). I was watching best motoring on the Z and it's designed with the body to improve airflow. You might want to put it back. Also, it covers any important parts that might be damaged from road debris.
The lip covers the front bolts so u can't take it off. I just unbolt the back 4 and reach in that way. Do you take the whole thing off to do an oil change?
