Default Code P0444 and bad gas mileage

I keep getting the codes P1273 and P1283 for air fuel metering, but I've been getting those since before I installed the turbo when I had test pipes. The new one I've been getting recently is P0444 "Canister Purge System Valve Open" and I've been getting horrible gas mileage ~15-16mpg mixed city/highway. When I was on just the TN reflash I was getting around 18-19 mixed city/highway. My wideband tells me I'm not running rich at all, when cruising it reads ~14.5:1, so this tells me I have a leak somewhere, probably just vapors escaping, and the P0444 code kinda reinforces that theory.

Should I take it to Nissan to have the evap system checked out or is there something specifically I can look for? The EVAP system is part of the emissions warranty and should be covered for 80K miles. Oh and I have the GReddy EVO2 exhaust which requires relocation of the EVAP canister, but I installed the exhaust almost 2 years ago. Any ideas??

remove the valve and test it. there is a procedure in fsm . pretty easy to do, if i remember correctly its behind pass rear tire. Evap leaks rarely cause that high of a decline in MPG
i will tell you now though. there is a damn good chance they will not work on your car because of the turbo, may diagnose the evap leak but will probably not warranty it since you had the canister relocated.

I don't have a FSM Well, I found a kinked hose coming out of the evap canister and replaced it with a new one, I hope that was it Another thing I was experiencing was in the mornings a faint smell of gas inside the car, but not all the time, and in the morning you could definitely smell the gas in the garage. I replaced the hose yesterday and didn't smell any gas in the car or in the garage this morning, so we'll see.

this may sound like a stupid question but have you had the hose recall done? also if you had your fuel pump upgraded for the turbo check to make sure seal inst leaking...thats only way i can think of that there would be fuel smell inside the car. there is no other fuel system components there.

try search for the fsm but as far as valve goes take it off. and apply 12v to it to it. it should click. then put your mouth on it and blow. it should be open with power to it and closed without it but double check i cant remember for sure.

No I haven't had the hose recall done, could that be it? I also checked the fuel pump fittings and eveything seemed fine, no signs of leaking anywhere.

o yeah no question. if you ever saw how main filler hose looks like at 60k miles on an 03 you'd be afraid to drive your car. this will also cause evap leaks and that particular code you mentioned.

I have an 05 though, I wonder if the recall still affects me. Only one way to find out.

My car is a very early 05, so it might be affected.
