Default Service Engice Light

What's going on guys? Quick questions. I have an 06 enthusiast Z with about 47,000 miles, a year of driving back and forth from D.C to Raleigh every weekend, well anyway my service engine soon light just popped on. I know that some vehicles it's set to pop on after a certain amount of miles. My questions here are, is there anything that has to be serviced at this point or is it just the matter of reseting the light? Also should I take it to the dealership to get reset or it's something that I can do myself? Thanks in advance for input.

You can reset it yourself, however a CEL out of the blue is not something to be ignored.

It might be a symptom of a problem that you may be able to catch early. I'd suggest at the least getting the code scanned at a local auto parts place for free just so you know what the code is.

It would be one thing if you were working on the car and a CEL popped up- just find out what it is so you will be more informed if a problem pops up.

Go to autozone, get the code checked for free.

Don't reset it.

The light is NOT specified to come on after XXXX miles with the 350z
