Mobil 1 issues
Well, I decided to switch from dino to synthetic after 30k on the car... so I went to jiffy lube, had it done and the next day, my car seemed to struggle after ignition kinda like puttering, but then it would clear up... so after two weeks I decided to add an additive ok'd for synthetics... and the next thing you know, my car dies while it idles at the light (I have a manual)... so I took it back to jiffy lube to explain the problem, and they said it wasn't the oil. He connected a code reader to the car and it said that one of the cams was thrown off sync and that it wasn't because of the oil... I thought he was full of **** and so I took it home and called the guys at Precision Z in Canoga Park,Ca (www.precisionz.com ask for Ed, he's a good guy that helped me out) and he said my problem was that I added Mobil 1, so he said drain it... and refil it with an oil I preferred, not Mobil 1 though... so I did... and now it's fine... My question is.. has anyone experienced something of that nature with Mobil 1??? I feel like I want blow up Mobil Oil Corp. (anyone wanna join?) They made my pride and joy almost croak .

why would a specific motor oil harm your engine like that? It's not because of the mobil 1, that's for sure. Your car can even start fine with less than one quart of oil in the car.

Been using Mobil 1 full syn. for my Z for the past 4 years, no problems
But now I use Enenos, the purest synthetic u can get from Japan/EU, it's cool to have JDM oil on your car.
www.Eneos.us Hard to find a place that sells this, they just started to advertise in the US this year

All I'm saying is that I wanted to know if someone else had problems or not, because I had a specific problem which occured only when I upgraded the oil, and after changing it back to regular, it's gone.
As for Ed @ Precision Z, his exact words were "that's your problem, you used Mobil 1..." He's an expert, I trusted his opinion, and thanks to him, my Z is back to normal...
